The pool was first discovered over 1200 years ago, in about 770AD,
coming from under a 12m2 rock.
Legend has it that this rock was thrown by Tengu, a mythic characterwith a very long nose!

Next to Tengunoyu is Utaseyu,Fudonoyu
that is dedicated to the God of Fire,
where the first building was constructed in 1692.
